Masturbation on TV

penisthingMasturbation on TV? What channel? Sadly, it’s not on anywhere in the United States (thanks, Puritans). It’s happening in England.

Channel 4 is going to broadcast a Maturbate-a-thon in a documentary as part of what’s being called Wank Week. Participants in the Maturbate-a-thon will try to break records for most orgasms, and longest amount of time masturbating (8.5 hours!!!). They get 5 minutes each hour to “rejuvinate and renew”.

The event is being hosted by the San Francisco Center for Sex and Culture, who has done Masturbate-a-thons all over the United States and is taking their event to London.

Babeland has our own masturbate-a-thon, too. It has taken place in Masturbation May. We love it as a way to bring masturabation out of the closet it’s usually in and get people talking about self-pleasure as well as raising a little money for a good cause.

I hope at this Masturbate-a-thon they make sure they’ve got plenty of lube and good vibrators around. I’d bet the Hitachi Magic Wand would be up to the challenge.

Check out articles about the Masturbate-a-thon here and here.

[...] That is why the idea of not only having a Masturbate-a-thon but broadcasting it on TV is appalling to most Americans. Our Puritan sensibilities say “shhhhh! don’t talk about sex!” and our capitalist side says “who could we get to buy advertising?” Well, Britain doesn’t seem to be quite so confused. Last month, I blogged about the Masturbate-a-thon that they were going to have. The results are in and it was a resounding success. Not only that, but they raised a ton of money for some great charities. To top it all off, this article has an interview from Joycelyn Elders, former Attorney General of the United States under Bill Clinton who was fired for saying that sex ed classes should talk about masturbation. There has been an explosion of sex machines for sale on the internet. There must be 50. Some looks interesting and others are scarry. Can someone tell me about the Jetaime? I am about to buy, but I don’t want to be disapointed. They have a return policy, but I want to get it right the first time.
