This is two erotica-related submissions in a row but I couldn’t resist passing this on. Violet Blue is looking for submissions for the Best Women’s Erotica 2008. You can visit her website here for the details. Babeland carries the series of books she edits and I love recommending them to people who want to read erotica but aren’t sure what they’ll like. Reading an anthology is a great way to try a little bit of everything. You might find that some stores you aren’t into, some stories you like and some stories you absolutely love. Then you can go hunt down that author or that genre and you’re set. I like all of the “best-of” series which you can find in our “fiction” sections in the stores and online. Who knows, you may just decided to stick with the anthology and watch as certain pages get more and more dogeared. It’s the sign of a good story.

Babeland ended our blog erotica contest last month, but I’m happy to share that we are sponsoring the Richard Hugo House’s erotica writing competition.  “One Foot on the Floor”  is open to Northwest writers aged 18 and over with an erotica manuscript of 5,000 or fewer words and has a February 1 deadline.  The winning submission gets $250 cash prize, a $50 Babeland gift card, and the opportunity to read at Hugo House on February 13.  I’m super-excited because I get to review more erotica as part of the judging panel – yum!
