Eco Sex

kitEver since seeing An Inconvenient Truth, I’ve been changing my light bulbs to energy saver bulbs, switching my energy to wind/solar and generally worrying about the state of affairs on this planet.

In the midst of all of this, how could we forget about our sex lives? I’ve long been concerned with where my toys come from – are they made by 10 year old girls in sweatshops in China or by women being paid at least a living wage in the United States or Germany? Along with this comes thinking more consciously about the chemicals in our toys, how they are made, and what we can do to cut back on our overall waste.

That’s was why I was happy to see that Babeland has created an Eco-Friendly sex toy kit as well as a whole page devoted to eco-friendly sex. The kit has some of my favorite Babeland products in it including the amazing massage candles and the Laya Spot – one of my favorite vibrators.

Babeland isn’t the only one talking about eco sex – check out this great article from Treehugger.com

Also check out the Eco-Sexy kit in the news here and here.

Overall, I think the article is great – it points out both sides of the issues on phthalates and talks about how different sex toy shops (including Babeland!) handle it. He interviews Carol Queen from Good Vibrations and our own Anne Seamans! There are a couple of things that I wished he had addressed, however: [...]
