Breaking News: Wade Horn Resigns!

Wednesday, April 4th, 2007

no!Two in one week! How could we possibly be so lucky? Wade Horn, assistant secretary for children and families at HHS has stepped down. In case you’re not familiar with his work, Wade Horn is the person responsible for the increase in federal funding for abstinence-only education to over $200 million dollars - even though it’s been scientifically shown not to work. You know someone is bad when someone from the Heritage Foundation said this about him:

“Horn tackled the most important social issue in the United States while others ignored it — the decline of the institution of marriage.”

That’s code for: “he hates gays and we love him for it”.

Hopefully with the Senate in the hands of the Democrats, Bush will appoint someone more reasonable. It would be fantastic if funding for comprehensive sex-ed could grow and funding for abstinence-only could shrink.

If you want a little “light” reading that will make you want to call all of your friends, check out Representative Henry Waxman’s report on abstinence-only sex ed and how it absolutely does not work.
