Gridskipper has created maps of (mostly) quality sex toy shops in New York and San Francisco. Hopefully they will add other cities soon. Since Babeland has stores in Seattle and Los Angeles, I vote for those first!

I will say, though, that if the criteria are classy sex toy shops, I disagree with a few of Gridskipper’s picks. First, they left off our Soho store which certainly deserves to be on there. And, I’m not really sure if I would classify Pink Pussycat Boutique as “classy” but it’s a good place for bachelorette party favors and costumes.

Also, I think it’s great that the Bryant Park Hotel sells sex kits but other hotels do that also (including the Hotel on Rivington which carries Babeland sex kits) and it’s not like the toys are in some kind of gift shop. You have to fork over the $500.00/night for a room first, then you can order the toys via room service. Why not just stop by Babeland and pick up a few things first?

That being said, bring on the maps!

This year, Babeland participated in LA’s Gothtober - an artist countdown to Halloween. We’re day 12! I wish I had a photo that i could post here so you could see just how amazing this photo shoot is but you’ll just have to take my word for it and visit gothtober.com. Then click on day 12 and enjoy! Here’s a little note about the photo shoot from one of the LA participants:

Ahhh yes….nothing says Happy Halloween like a noir style murder mystery from the Babes at Babeland LA! Sarah (assistant manager) and I (marketing and education coordinator) thought it would be fun to work on a piece for the Gothtober advent calendar. This calendar has been providing a space for artists to create a Halloween inspired art piece to reach folks all over the world since 2002 (www.gothtober.com). LA has had the Babeland vulva in our possession since early this summer – and oh how we love her! So much that we wanted to focus our piece on the Babeland vulva. Hazel, sex educator extraordinaire, was the best vulva we could ask for. And, who wouldn’t love a Dr. Derriere and a Private Dick as a crime fighting duo!

“Who Killed the Babeland Vulva” came quite naturally for us. Luckily, we had the help of Leaf, a very creative photographer. All of the pictures were taken in the wee hours of the night after the store closed in our lovely alley (which came with props – empty beer bottles and original graffiti) and inside the store. The last picture was the most fun. Trying to get all of us in the air, at the same time, involved many bloopers, sore feet (for those of us in heels), and lots of laughs. Stay tuned for another original creation next Halloween!
