New Year Sex Resolutions

Monday, December 31st, 2007

resolutionIt’s the time of year for making resolutions. Most of us probably decide we want to exercise more or start flossing regularly. This year, I’m going to throw out the idea of making a sex resolution.

All too often we let our sex lives get habitual. Maybe there are things we want to try but we don’t know how to speak up. Or maybe there was something we once experienced and would really like to do again. Or maybe, we just need to give ourselves the permission: to explore, to laugh, to be nervous, etc. This is not always easy but almost always improves things. It can make a stagnant sex life full of new experiences. Or, it can take an already awesome sex life and add in a new flavor.

My sex resolution is to use my sex toys more. I know, I know – I work at Babeland. You’d think I would use them all the time, but I don’t. Somehow, in the moment, I forget to open that drawer. But this year I’m not going to forget about them – I bought them for a reason, after all.

What are your sex resolutions? Please share them in the comments. Some ideas to get you started:

  • Try anal play for the first time
  • Use a sex toy with a partner
  • Focus less on having an orgasm and more on having fun
  • Watch porn with someone else (or watch porn for the first time ever)
  • Write an erotic story
  • Have one long conversation with a partner about your sex lives

Year in Rainbow Yellow Sex Toy Sale!

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

So my un-official sponsor is Babeland!

Yes it’s true because I have been working there since 2004!

So I’ve wanted to write this special post, because the Babeland stores (not the web site) are having a sale through January 1st! Everything, except for some products and kits, are 20% off!!

Well this post is extra special because there are TONS of yellow products at Babeland, heck even the walls are yellow!

Yellow Shirts at work

Even these yellow shirts are on sale!

And they are only available in the stores in Seattle, New York and LA!

So, could there be THAT many products that are yellow at Babeland? Yes there are! Here are some of my favorites!

The Ducky, ah, the ducky the most inconspicuous toy is actually the brightest toy in your bathtub! It’s not the rubber ducky that Ernie sings about on Sesame street, no not this ducky, this ducky has brought joy to many an orgasmic bather! Yep it’s a super powerful vibrator that you could use for clitoral stimulation, or take the ducky’s tale and explore your g-spot! Ahh, lovely ducky! This ducky makes you laugh and then turns you on, sounds like the perfect bathing buddy!

candlesYou most likely lite candles when you take a bath, well don’t you also like a massage after a bath? Well why not try one of the Massage Candles with a lovely yellow label? These candles smell delicious, are made of safe soy wax and are also massage oil. Yes these burn at a lower temperature so that you don’t burn your precious skin, and you have a nice warm massage oil rubbed all over your body for a lovely sensuous time! They come in four scents. Mango Vanilla, Chocolate Hazelnut, Mojito Peppermint, Jasmine Ginger and Rice Flower!

bananablissSo don’t those scents make you hungry? Yum, a massage that smells delicious. Some have said Chocolate is better than sex, well I’d disagree, but it’s up there, it’s scrumptious and fantastic! Yes, another yellow item, yes Babeland Banana Split Bliss Bar, yum, yum! Banana chips mixed with quality milk chocolate, crunchy and delightful, sure to give your chocolate craving a culinary delight!

Well, ever wonder how to make safe sex sexy? Why not pack a sexy condom that is studded for a fantastic condomskind of pleasure! Make safe sex fun by putting the condom on with your mouth!

WNYC’s Brian Lehrer talks about sex ed, gay youth

Friday, December 28th, 2007

wnycI love WNYC – New York’s Public Radio Station. It doesn’t make This American Life or Wait Wait…Dont’ Tell Me, but it still has some amazing programs. My favorite show is Radio Lab (I’m a nerd, I know) but I recently discovered the Brian Lehrer show because of some very interesting topics they’ve had on recently.

The first is sex education in New York City. AIDS education is required here but Sex Education is not. A lot of advocates and teenagers are trying to change this and there’s a great piece on this process and why sex education should be mandatory in New York City. You can listen to the whole show on WNYC’s website.

Second, more than 25% of all homeless youth in New York City are gay. The show explores the reasons behind this and looks at the special challenges that gay homeless youth are facing. Listen here.
