Radical Vixen of the awesome Sugasm is doing a series of interviews with sex workers and I was honored to be interviewed by her. Although I got a little confused with one of the questions (you know how e-mail interviews are) I really enjoyed it and I think her response to my answers is also really interesting. She’s also interviewed Audacia Ray – I’m thrilled to be in such good company.

I love that Babeland is seen by sex workers as a safe space for them. Many of our employees have worked other jobs as sex workers or are involved in other ways with sex work. We also view ourselves as doing sex work. Anytime you hesitate to tell your landlord what you do and decide to just say “retail” – that’s sex work. It’s stigmatized, even for a place like Babeland.

I was working at our Rivington street store this past weekend and I was overwhelmed with the amount and variety of glass dildos we have right now. In fact, all of the sex educators had a little toy-gasm when we saw all of the different options. Then we all started talking about our own – what shape it is, what color.
