Mac users “sexier” than PC users
If you own a Mac you’re thinking, well duh, I already knew that. But now it’s official. According to MacWordUK, LoveHoney, a UK sex toy company released their Google Analytics Logs and showed that Mac users spend more time on their site than both Linux and PC users. Although the difference is small (Mac users spend 45 seconds more on the site on average than Linux users) it’s interesting to think about whether or how technology influences our sex lives.
Clearly there have been innovations such as the OhMiBod that encourage users to purchase Mac products if they want to take full advantage of new sex toys. Or, it could be that Mac users are gadget freaks and need to have the newest “it” toy, be it a MacBookAir or the SaSi.
I would love to see a Mac commercial utilizing this information. The guy who plays Macs could be surrounded by sleek new sex toys and holding a riding crop while John Hodgman’s PC character stands around in a suit averting his eyes or better yet, holding old, clunky vibrators from the 50’s.
Even though Mac users might spend the most time on LoveHoney, Linux users spend the most money. My partner, in an attempt to trump even snobby Mac users (myself) says that this is because they don’t have to spend any money on software. Hilarious.

Could be that PC folks are viewing your site discretely while at work, while the Mac types are off working remotely…

brian,
I hadn’t thought of that - I guess it’s entirely possible. It would be interesting to look at IP addresses and see what the breakdown is in terms of residential/business. I’m sure that would be interesting as well. Since many businesses have filters on computers or ways to see what employees have open on their desktops, people may not look at sex toys sites from work at all.
