How To Pick A Dildo
When you walk into Babeland, there are three shelves filled with dildos. How do you find the right one for you? Understandably, this can feel a little overwhelming but if you follow these guidelines, it should make things much easier.
Go smaller than you think: It’s a hard and fast rule among dildo sellers that our eyes are often bigger than our orifices. So, when you think you’ve found the perfect size for you, think about going one size down. If you’re looking for a dildo that is approximately the same size as your partner, try picking one out that is about 75% the size of your partner. Dildos feel bigger inside the body than penises do so if you go a bit smaller, it will feel just about right.
Think about texture: Dildos range in texture from incredibly smooth to very ridgy to bumpy to veiny. What you get depends on what feels good inside your body and what you want to use it for. Some of the larger bumped dildos can work well for G-spotting whereas I wouldn’t recommend anything but the smoothest dildos for anal play unless you know you like the texture.
Material: Silicone. Just get silicone. There are other dildos made out of sub-standard materials like jelly rubber and cyberskin but silicone is incredibly safe and long lasting, easy to clean (sterilize!) and easy to use. You might pay a bit more but you’re getting so much more for your money. Plus, silicone can vibrate.
Vibration: Many silicone dildos now come with the option of vibration. There’s a little removable vibrator tucked into a space at the bottom of the toy. This is great because in almost any toy, the thing that will break is the battery compartment. If that happens here, you just get a new vibrator and you keep the dildo. It also means that you can take the vibrator out to clean the dildo or use the vibrator somewhere else on your body!
