Well Ain’t That Just Ducky?

Monday, August 11th, 2008

duckyI received my first taste of Ducky Doolittle when she toured with the (now-defunct) Sex Workers Art Show some years back. She grabbed my attention with her famous stocking-ed gams, a flip of her fringe, and a heave of her milky white bosom; but furthermore, the audience was in her palm, for she snagged us with a warm smile, and then delivered sex-talk in an accessible, hilarious, and knowledgeable manner.

In the realm of sex education, Ducky’s got it covered: a former peep show-cum-cam girl, author of Sex with the Lights On: 200 Illuminating Sex Questions Answered, the lead workshop facilitator for the Museum of Sex, a certified Sexual Assault and Violence Intervention Counselor, a lecturer and performer to thousands cross-country…

And, oh yes, she’s an illustrious Babeland alum. Having served as a New York Sex Educator, Education Coordinator, and Lead Workshop Facilitator, she gives something for me (and other Babeland sex educators) to aspire to.

What’s better than Ducky? Why, Ducky and sex toys, of course. Tantus Silicone toys are a favorite at Babeland. We adore butt toys like the Little Flirt and the Severin, ingenious dildos like the Feeldoe and the Silk Line, not to mention bending over our buddy with the Bend Over Beginner kit. It seems quite evident that Ducky loves Tantus, too, as evidenced in her wonderful Buzz review on youtube.

Delivered with her trademark humor, charm, and sex appeal, this little review should have all of us running out to satiate our desires with a comfy silicone Buzz. And it can double as a unicorn horn, too! Genius.

Fleshbot Loves the SaSi!

Monday, August 11th, 2008

sasiIn case you didn’t know, the SaSi is here!! I am so excited – I’ve been saving up my money for the past couple of months and I’m buying it the next time I work!

I’ll post reviews here as they find them, because I think the more information we all have the better and I really loved what Lux from Fleshbot has to say (this girl gets all the fancy new stuff!):

Most vibrators function as a blunt object of erotic stimulation. You turn them on, they vibrate. Sure, you can alter the speed or pattern of vibration, and some of them have parts that swivel, but there’s not a lot of subtlety involved.

But with the SaSi, things are different. From the top side, the SaSi looks a bit like a sleek, wireless mouse. Flip it over, however, and its true nature is revealed. You’ll see a small bump, and it’s this bump that makes all the difference. It kicks into action when you turn the SaSi on, moving along the clit as fast or as slow as you wish: it moves sideways, it moves in circles, it moves up and down. Most importantly, it places pressure (not vibration, but pressure) directly on or around the clit. As you may have guessed, it pretty closely stimulates getting head. Try getting a Hitachi Magic Wand to do that.

But that’s not all: in addition to the movements of its magic bump, the SaSi is also capable of vibrating in a traditional style. With the push of a different button, the body of the SaSi starts rocking and rolling. Vibration can be increased or decreased, or set to a variety of pulse patterns. If you can imagine a small tongue moving just the way you like that’s connected to a flat, vibrating head … well, that’s pretty much what the SaSi is like. In other words, it’s awesome.

Seattle: Capitol Art Walk, August Edition

Monday, August 11th, 2008

noellewalkerIt’s once again time for the Capitol Hill Art Walk. In July, Babeland Seattle featured the sublime photography of Dale Rio; this month, the last sultry walk of summer, we move into the realm of street art/pop-surrealist inspired work. Noelle Walker combines traditional and non-traditional mediums (spray paint, chalk, pencil, and marker) to take a layered, graffiti aesthetic from the streets and onto the gallery wall. In combining disparate elements and settings, the very mediums and environments speak of the multi-layered trans* experience.

“It has been said that a transexual’s story is written on their body. Artist Noelle Walker’s work is concerned with that idea — the juxtaposition of body and the word, construction and self-construction, text and subtext. It refocuses W.E.B. DuBois’ concept of ‘twoness’ on transgenderism. Her pieces are in spray paint, other times drawn in marker that will sometimes eat through other parts of the work. The media used is often permanent, bold, and solid.”

Join Babeland Seattle for the first peek of Noelle’s month-long exhibit.
When: Tuesday August 12th. 6-9pm
Where: Babeland Seattle, 707 E. Pike Street, Capitol Hill
Cost: FREE!
