Way in the back room of every Babeland store, there lives a little fairy. This little fairy eats, sleeps, and dances to the sweet sounds of the machine that is the Babeland storefront. Each night, when all the Sex Educators go home for the day, the lights and the coffee pot are turned off, and the alarm is set, this fairy comes out and sprinkles her magic fairy dust on all of the toys. She checks to make sure that they function properly, that there’s enough of them in stock, and that they still do the job of bringing thousands and thousands of people pleasure, day after day.

As any fairy knows, all work and no play makes for a very, very dull existence. And this particular fairy knows that better than any other fairy, for night after night, when she finishes with her fairy dust, this magical little fairy picks out her favorite toy (currently the Little Chroma), splays her glistening fairy body on the floor of the Babeland store, and brings herself to orgasm over, and over, and over again. When she just can’t take any more, the fairy returns to her miniature warehouse in the back room, and goes to sleep, dreaming about fun promotions, store events, new products, and of course, giving and receiving pleasure.

So who is this magical fairy, you might ask. Her name is Oakland, Oakfairy for short, and she hails from the fifth operating post of the Babeland Empire, the Oakland, CA warehouse. Recently, Oakfairy decided that she wanted to share her adventures and knowledge with everyone in the Babe-o-sphere, and what better way to do that than on the web. Audacia Ray took this awesome video of the Animal Crackers performance at last night’s anniversary party – it was pretty hilarious.

Last night was New York’s anniversary party and it was clearly the place to be. Guests got free drinks, popcorn and candy apples and a ticket to participate in one of our fun “games”. My favorite was a balloon burst, where everyone won a prize, from a lubette to a complimentary workshop ticket. You could also get your picture taken with the Babeland Vulva – we even had frames to put them in, prom style. I was so busy helping customers I almost forgot to get my picture taken!

The best part of the night was seeing past co-workers and other New York friends of Babeland. Lux, our toy reviewer from Fleshbot was there, as was Audacia Ray, maker of the amazing Live Girl Review. The makers of the We vibe told me some amazing things about their toy and I said hello to the folks to make the awesome Tantus toys. Jamye Waxman came straight from a photo shoot and was dressed in the most rockin’ Wonder Woman costume I’ve ever seen (check out the New York Sex Bloggers calendar to see it) as did Rachel Kramer Bussel of Lusty Lady who I hadn’t seen since she did a workshop at our Soho store awhile back.

There were also two super sexy burlesque-type performances which rocked the house and kept the party going. I’ll post pictures as soon as I get them.
