Obama’s Listening…to Babeland!

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Maybe it’s not such a big deal, but I’m pretty stoked that BarackObama or someone from Obama’s Twitter page is now following Babeland_Toys on Twitter.

While we’re getting little updates like: “Just finished a major policy address in Toledo, OH. Read my full ‘Economic Rescue Plan for the Middle Class’ at http://tinyurl.com/4nvlyl“, Obama’s staying up to date on our Penis Cupcake Contest — which, everyone should enter.  Let’s face it, nothing says “Go-Bama” like a penis cupcake.

So what do you think Obama’s favorite toy is?  If I had to reccomend one to him, I’d suggest the Sasi.  The trail to the White House can be long and grueling, with Obama on the road more than at home.  Can’t you just imagine Barack telling Michelle that he’ll be flying a red eye out to Indianapolis, but not to worry because he’s programmed a special something into her Sasi vibrator.  After all, the “Change We Can Believe In” is a vibrator that actually learns what we like.

But what would Barack Obama suggest to the middle class in need of economic and sexual rescue?  I would venture to guess the Babeland Body kit.  For $25, you get the all the basics to get through any crisis: a vibe, a condom, massage oil, and a bath fizzy for clean up.  Plus all the ingredients of Babeland’s bodyline are organic.  So it helps keep our country green, while offering relief to those who truly need it.

In all fairness, although extremely stomach turning, I’ll speculate that McCain’s a big fan of (or in desperate need of) the Maverick Cock Sleeve and a good dollop of our Gun Oil lube.

From Claire: The Sexies Make History!

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Babeland co-founder Claire asked me to post this blog for her!

The Sexies Make History!

The very first Sex Positive Journalism Awards, a.k.a. the Sexies, were given out at a star-studded ceremony recently in New York City, and Babeland was there as a proud founding sponsor! The Sexies are the brainchild of Miriam Axel-Lute, a journalist who in the course of her career became increasingly frustrated with the way newspapers and magazines routinely treat sex news differently from writing on other issues. Why is it so hard for writers and editors to maintain their journalistic standards when the topic they’re covering is sex? Obviously it’s because when it comes to sex, there is a lot of pressure in our culture to conform, which leads to bias and sensationalism in the media. Only clear-headed and courageous writers can maintain their objectivity under such pressure.

Miriam decided it was time to formally recognize journalists who covered sex objectively, without sensationalizing it and without marginalizing sexual subcultures, and who challenged sex-negativity in their sources. And so the Sexies were born!

Lolita Wolf played hostess, and welcomed judges, speakers and honorees. Judith Levine spoke about the hysterical media circus that accompanied the publication of her great book Harmful to Minors: the Perils of Protecting Children from Sex. Winners who attended the ceremony included Amanda Robb who took home an award for her opinion piece “Abstinence 1, S-CHIP O” in the New York Times which exposed abstinence-only sex education as a danger to children. Daniel Engber won for his feature about the inhumane restrictions put on the sex lives of nursing home residents (“Naughty Nursing Homes,” Slate). Debbie Nathan was honored for exposing the New York Times’ shoddy, irresponsible coverage of internet porn in her piece “Hysteria, Exploitation, and Witch Hunting in the Age of Internet Sex,” in Counterpunch. For a complete list of winners, go to www.sexies.org

The atmosphere was a delicious combination of the serious and the sexy. Bartenders in nothing but whitey-tighties served drinks to professional writers and reporters, as well as sex culture luminaries including Tristan Taormino, Susan Wright of National Coalition for Sexual Freedom, Carol Queen from the Center for Sex Positive Culture, and Reid Mihalko, founder of Cuddle Parties.

Now that the 2008 Sexies are history, it’s time to get cracking on 2009! If you have read an article about sex that you find refreshingly balanced and honest, go to the Sexies website and let them know – you could be nominating one of next year’s winners!

Review Roundup

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

bodypenHere are some reviews I’ve enjoyed recently:

Redbook takes a look at the delicious Chocolate Body Pens:

I loved everything about this. It felt great to be drawn on, then cleaned up, and equally as great to draw on my boyfriend and lick him up. It was delicious, too — the chocolate was super-yummy

Redbook also looks at the very fun Striptease Kit:

I loved the Striptease Kit! Those pasties were hilarious. I’ve already put in an order for which routine I’d like my wife to try next. We’re going to go shopping together to get some additional items that don’t come with the kit.

hitachiLemondrop looks at the Hitachi and the Fukuoku – two classics:

No lie, this thing did the job in approximately 45 seconds, and when I was done I gave myself a nice shoulder massage.

Pro: Raw power! I like that you don’t need batteries, but you have to find an outlet close enough to your masturbation station to avoid awkward positions.

Sarah Slone loves her Gigi (don’t we all?):

I did a lot of experimentation with her – keep in mind what I said about not being a vibrator consumer?  I wanted to make sure I put her through her paces and really got a feel for what she could do.  Initially I was a bit uncomfortable with inserting her, but once I figured out how she’d fit best with my internal landscape I found that a gentle rocking motion against my g-spot felt amazing!  I learned pretty quickly what my favorite vibration pattern was, and cranked her up into high gear.
