Sexy Jack-O-Lanterns Due Friday!

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

I’m completely remiss in not mentioning this earlier but Babeland’s Sexy Jack-O-Lantern contest starts today. Carve a pumpkin the most creative and sexy way you can think of and bring it to a Babeland store by the close of business on Halloween. The winner for the most creative pumpkin wins a $100 Babeland gift bag! Second place gets a $50 bag, third place $25.
If you’re not into carving, be sure to stop by Babeland in the next week, we’ll have all of the pumpkins we receive out on the floor in all of their awesome glory.

Here is a picture of a previous winner for inspiration:

If you live in/near Brooklyn, wear your costume and be one of the first 50 people to walk into our Brooklyn location on Halloween between 6 and 8 to get a free gift!

Washingtonians – Get Out and Vote!

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

voteOk, really everyone needs to go vote. I won’t tell you who to vote for but I would encourage you to think about which candidate would take away your sex toys and which candidate probably owns them… (how does the first lady replace a broken vibrator??)

There are some states that go beyond the presidential election: California as we’ve already noted needs you to save animals, teenagers and gay people. South Dakota needs you to save a woman’s right to choose. Washington also has reproductive rights at stake along with sex education – something anyone who shops at Babeland should support.

Here are some brief rundowns of some of the points to consider in Washington and why it’s so very very important that if you live there, you vote.

1. The Governor’s race is close. Very close. In 2004 it was decided by less than 150 votes. Seriously. Rossi is anti-choice, anti-sex ed, anti-gay rights, anti-paid family leave. Gregoire is pro all of those things, plus she wants to push for better health care and fight climate change. The choice here is clear. Babeland (and all of Washington) needs Gregoire.

Check out this great video that a couple of vote-conscious Babelanders made about Rossi:

Now on to the various ballot initiatives and other things you’ll need to know about when you go to the polls:
2. Prop 1: Pike Place market is so central to Seattle – do you want it to fall apart? Of course not.

3. Prop 2: Improve parks? Yes, please!

4. Transit Prop 1: Improve congestion, provide transportation alternatives, help the planet.

5. Initiative 985: Money for education, not cars.
