There have been some pretty rad feminist achievements this year – electing Obama, defeating three anti-choice ballot measures, more women in elected office, Rachel Maddow (no details required.. just Rachel Maddow).

I wouldn’t have automatically thought to put a vibrator on this list, but when Hugo Schwyzer pointed it out, I realized that the SaSi really is a feminist achievement. It’s all about the clitoris, foreplay, pleasure and getting exactly what you want. What could be more feminist than that?

The reviews on Babeland’s new “Sasi” vibrator suggest that, well, something very special has arrived in the world of what used to be called “marital aids.” No one needs to hear this old boy’s opinion, but my “better-informed sources” tell me marvelous things.

In fact, the more I think about it, the SaSi really represents what feminism should be about:

• Equality (a vibrator designed exclusively with a woman’s major needs in mind)
• Knowledge (get to know this toy and it will get to know you)
• Opportunity (if you haven’t been a fan of vibrators before, the SaSi is so different, it just might convert you)
• Visibility (whenever a high quality sex toy gets a lot of attention, it’s score one for pleasure)

So go SaSi!
