Link Love from Babeland

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

Wow, there’s a lot of stuff going on this week. Here are just some of the many things I’ve kept busy reading:

A homemade sex toy design contest!

Apparently Elle McPhereson shops at Babeland! I mean, where else would she shop, really?

If you would ever like to take a trip down sexist memory lane, these sexist ads are a great reminder of how far we’ve come.

Akimbo blog does an amazing job of sorting through the UN’s Guidelines for Universal Access for MSM and Transgender People. This is a must-read.

Audacia Ray is teaching a class at Rutgers and has generously put her syllabus online for all of us to learn from! I’m adding books to my Amazon Wish List as I write this.

BoingBoing links to No Girls Allowed – a comic about women who overcame societal limits by dressing as men. Amazing.

MSNBC has a good piece on doulas! I also enjoyed the Bounty ad that played before it which had a mom and daughter doing kitchen science experiments!

After the devastating news about Prop 8, a photo from a protest! And, as a reminder that we have this and so much more to fight for, the Alternatives to Marriage Project.

Sex on the Side does belong to a friend of mine but it’s also an awesome sex blog with a really fantastic photo of Wandy Sykes up right now. Check it out.

The Daily Beast has a really interesting article by a woman discovering masturbation and orgasm for the first time at 30.

Deborah Sundahl teaches about Female Ejaculation

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

I am really excited to have Deborah Sundahl here at the Seattle store this weekend to teach all about Female Ejaculation and the G-spot. It was Sundahls’ book Female Ejaculation and the G-Spot that first taught me to ejaculate several years ago, and it is her movie Female Ejaculation for Couples that showed me for the first time how easy it really is to find the G-spot. Well Deborah Sundahl is going to be here! Right here in the Seattle store, teaching you (and me – I can always learn more) how to ejaculate, and where the G-spot is and how to stimulate it. Don’t worry – it isn’t a hands on class (you have to pay more for those) but you will learn lots of things to try at home later that night.

This class will focus more on ejaculation than the G-Spot 101 classes we teach at Babeland so if you already know where the G-spot is but want to get in touch with your “feminine fountain” or perhaps someone else’s – this it the class for you.

Babeland workshops happen in the store. I know, I know – if you have been in the Seattle store you might wonder…where? In the back? Nope. Right in the store. You may not have ever noticed, but all our displays are on wheels, and they roll right out of the way. We can fit up to 40 people in a class right here in the store. Don’t worry about people walking by and sneaking a peak at you taking notes in the class either. We hang curtains over the windows so that all the attendees can learn in the comfort of a private class room.

The class is Sunday night May 31st, from 7:30-9:30pm.  If you would like to sign up to take this class – please call the Seattle store at 206-328-2914 to register over the phone.

Babe of the Month: Always Aroused Girl (part 2)

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

Here is part 2 of our interview with Always Aroused Girl. Always Aroused Girl (AAG) is a mom, sex blogger and sex toy reviewer. She’s also a Sexy Mom Blog participant and a favorite of ours here at Babeland. To help us celebrate our Sexy Mom Blog event this month, we asked AAG a few questions about being a sexy mom and a blogger. Check out part 1 of the interview for a chance to get a discount at Babeland!

You’ve reviewed a lot of sex toys for Janes Guide. What do you like best about being a sex toy reviewer? What do you like least (if anything)?

I love trying out things that are unique.  A vibrator that probably has the exact same motor as a thousand others and only a slightly different plastic shell?  Yawn!  It takes great design, fabulous materials and stellar functionality to impress me now.  That sounds snotty, doesn’t it?  But you have to realize I’ve tried dozens upon dozens of toys at this point.  I’m pretty picky.

What do you do with a toy after you’ve tested it if you think that you might never use it again?

I have several friends who are happy to take well-cleaned, gently used toys off my hands.  And I don’t hesitate to throw away lame items. No matter how many toys I might collect, I still only have one vagina, more’s the pity.
