Amy Lang's Book for Parents

Parents, don’t miss Amy Lang, MA of Birds+Bees+Kids speaking at Babeland’s Seattle store on April 25.  Amy’s talk is for parents of elementary school age children and older. This interactive talk helps parents understand the need to start the conversations early and continue them throughout childhood and adolescence. Parents learn what works for kids, have time to talk about their own experiences and values, and learn about teen sexual behavior in an open and candid atmosphere.

Amy LangAmy has a 16-year history as a Sexual Health Educator and I have known a few moms who have attended her lecture at their kids’ school and found it really helpful.  I was eager to get her to teach a class at the store since we have a lot of parents who shop here.  Our customers are pretty sex-positive parents, yet it is hard to be prepared for “the talk” especially since it seems it needs to happen earlier–and definitely more often–than you were maybe expecting.

We are offering this class for free because we feel it is so important to have great sex education when you’re young and to be able to talk about these important issues with your parents.  So parents, be sure to take advantage of this class and get some great tools to help you out when the time is right. If you can’t make the event, check out Amy’s great Q&A for parents and her online sex education resources.

How to Use Babeland Silicone Smart Balls

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

By now, you’ve probably heard of the Kegel/PC muscles — they’re the muscles you use to control the flow of pee, but they’re also intimately involved in orgasm, birth, vaginal health and elasticity, and plenty of other good things. And as you might’ve learned on Sex and the City, you can exercise your PC muscles anytime, anywhere.

But if you really want to get down with some serious vaginal toning, get your hands on the Babeland Silicone Smart Balls.  These little wonders are specifically designed for a variety of vaginal exercises, involving contraction, resistance, and even some G-spot pleasure thrown in for good measure.  (Seriously, try popping ‘em in so a ball rests against your G-spot, and pull rhythmically on the string — G-spot-a-licious.)

And of course, we wouldn’t just set you loose in the woods with some Smart Balls and no instruction as to how they’re used.  Check out our brand-new How-to article, How to Use Babeland Silicone Smart Balls, and you’ll be all set.  Powerful orgasms and better vaginal health, here you come!

The Vagina Monologues at Babeland

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

From our Soho Manager in Training:

Last night, Sunday April 18th, employees from all three New York stores came together to perform an all-Babeland cast production of The Vagina Monologues.

Over the past few months, a group of our amazing and talented Babes dedicated hours of their personal time to an audition process, individual rehearsals, group rehearsals, and time on their own in an effort to perfect their performances.

Everyone had a lot of fun working with each other in a new capacity and getting a chance to see another side of one another. The most important aspect of this endeavor, however, was that it was all done for charity. We chose Right Rides ( www.rightrides.org ) as our beneficiary, and were able to have representatives tabling at the performances. The mission of RightRides For Women’s Safety, Inc. is to build safer communities by ending gender-based harassment and sexual assault. They do this by offering women, LGBTQ and gender nonconforming individuals a free, late-night ride home to ensure their safe commute to or through high-risk areas. 10% of ticket sales also went to the V-Day 2010 Spotlight on Women of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Lucky for our audiences, not only were they generously donating to great causes, but they were also able to enjoy a truly fantastic show. I was blown away by the scope of talent within our staff, and judging from what I heard after the show, the audience felt the same way. It was truly an honor to direct and perform alongside a group of such brilliant and inspiring thespians, who all managed to bring an uplifting show to a whole new level of sex-positivity.

Congrats to all of the New York Babeland staff who participated. If you missed the performance, let me know and maybe Babeland will put on another show sometime!
