Babeland’s Big Summer Sale

Friday, July 15th, 2011

Enjoy 20% off nearly everything in stores and online when you shop Friday-Sunday, July 15, 16, and 17. You know what that means? The bestselling couple’s toy, the We Vibe, is marked down from $99 to $79. Want an affordable vibe that still has a lot of power? The popular dual-action vibrator, the Butterfly Kiss, is marked down from $17 to $13. It’s a perfect time to stock up on lube, too. Good sex is slippery sex and you can never have too much on hand. Customer favorite Sliquid H2O can be had for $16 for eight ounces, instead of $20. If you need that toy to have with you just in case you’re stranded on a deserted island, the Gigi is our recommendation and this gorgeous, customizable vibe is now available for $87, marked down from $109.

The Big Summer Sale is part of our Customer Appreciation Month.  During July, you can enter for a chance to win the Jimmyjane Eternity, a platinum, diamond-studded vibe valued at $3,250. This is the second year we’ve done this amazing giveaway. To be in the drawing, all you have to do is subscribe to an email newsletter.

In stores, please join us for some of the many free events designed to titillate, educate and inspire you. With free drinks and gift bags, too! This weekend, there’s a Happy Hour at Babeland SoHo, vouchers for free ice cream at the Street Treats truck in Seattle, Beachside BJ Tips at Babeland Brooklyn and X Marks the G-Spot at Babeland LES, among other things. An Interview With BUST Magazine’s Crafty Lady, Callie Watts

Monday, July 11th, 2011

Crafting is a bit like sex – it’s messy and can seem intimidating at first! What if I don’t do it right? What if I mess up? Callie Watts, official “Crafty Lady” at BUST Magazine shows us how to get our crafting on, and even throws in ideas for making it sexy.

Callie will be hosting our kinky crafting table at this Thursday’s BUST in Babeland Customer Appreciation Party at our SoHo store. Let’s hear what she has to say!

Leah: Tell us about your role as “Crafty Lady” at BUST Magazine.

Callie: As BUST’s Crafty Lady I am the go-to-girl for all craft articles. I write the column “BUY or DIY” where I round up items based around a theme and then give instructions on how to make something similar yourself. The most recent was nail art. I have also done articles on rugs, fabric jewelry, jewelry organizers, school supplies, table settings, mobiles -     you name it and I’ve probably made it. I also do several other craft articles throughout the magazine depending on what we need for each issue and rather or not we are having a freelancer do it, if not it’s up to me to craft it up.

Leah: Last year you helped Babeland run a Kinky Crafting event where we created beautiful safer sex holsters to wear out on the town.  Where did the inspiration for that craft come from?

Callie: I have an awesome leg holster that is the perfect fit for a condom and a lubette. It just seemed to lend itself perfectly to the project.

Leah: Any sexy clothing accessory that also holds safer sex supplies sounds good to me! So what is your advice to readers who want to get their sexy crafting on but are feeling nervous?

Callie: Sometimes it doesn’t pan out the first time, learn from your mistakes and try again. When it comes to crafting, if you want to get creative and veer off the directions be sure to allocate time to adjust your mistakes as they come. Also, start with simple things so you get your confidence up. If you first craft project is complicated it may put a bad taste in your mouth for crafts forever. If someone made it before – you can make it too, you just need patience and time to experiment with trial and error! It will always be worth it in the long run to have something personal and made by your loving hands.

If you want to meet Callie in person and get all the crafting tips you need, join us for our BUST in Babeland Customer Appreciation Party this Thursday night at 7pm our SoHo store. Callie will be helping customers create DIY sexy sleepover kits with fabric pouches and shimmery rhinestones.    Arrive early: the first 50 attendees will receive a gift bag filled with Sir Richard’s condoms , a Silver Bullet vibrator, and an issue of BUST Magazine.

See you there!
